Tobi Afolabi, a passenger, alleged harassment and death threats from an inDrive ride-hailing driver and his associates after leaving a negative review on the app.

Afolabi, who tweets as @uxtobiaf, took to social media platform X on Wednesday to expose the threats he has been receiving since rating his inDrive experience as poor.

In a series of tweets, he accused the driver of sending threatening messages and enlisting others to intimidate him after he left a two-star review.

The post read, “Posting this here just so everyone can be aware that inDrive employs drivers who harass you and send their friends to harass you over a review. I’ve been fielding calls from this guy and his friends all day because I left an honest review after a ride on Sunday. Use inDrive at your own risk.”

Screenshots shared by Afolabi showed the driver sending him death threats: “Oluwatobi Omo Afolabi. Do you have an idea why people sleep and don’t wake up again? Literally, your answer here will depend on my next action.”

Despite Afolabi’s insistence that the ride ended on Sunday, March 16, and should not warrant further contact, the driver continued messaging him.

“You see, life doesn’t revolve the way you think. Guess inDrive really pays you for this. I will make you famous today,” the driver wrote

Afolabi also alleged that since the review, he has been receiving threatening calls and messages from unknown numbers.

He criticised inDrive’s response, and stated that the company’s in-app support only offered generic apologies and failed to take immediate action.

“#inDrive, this is how your drivers harass someone over leaving a review. I reached out to in-app support, and you did nothing,” Afolabi wrote

As the post gained traction, inDrive responded publicly, saying, “In response to Afolabi’s viral post, inDrive wrote on X, “At inDrive, we have a zero-tolerance policy for unethical driver behaviour, and we are deeply concerned about the incident. Please DM us the details of the ride, and we will take immediate action against the driver. The safety of users is our priority. Thank you for bringing this to our attention
