EHINGBETI 2021 WILL BOOST LAGOS ECONOMY
Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr. Gbenga Omotoso has stated that the Lagos State Economic Summit, also known as Ehingbeti Summit 2021, will attract investments to boost the State’s economy.
The Commissioner, who was answering questions on an Arise TV programme – The Morning Show – noted that the summit is aimed at bringing together various talents to make a robust economic policy for Lagos. Ehingbeti will run from February 16-18. The theme is “For a Greater Lagos: Setting the Tone for the Next Decade”
He described Ehingbeti as a private sector-driven idea that Lagos must improve in terms of economic infrastructure in relation to all the things that can make Lagos greater.
“It is packaged by the private sector, delivered by the private sector and handed over to the public sector in terms of policy to execute”, the Commissioner said.
Omotoso recalled that there was a break in the economic summit from 2015-2019, but it has now been revived because of its importance in decision-making. The Private sector, according to him, has a way of bringing together talents, ideas and can put them together and present them to the government for policies that will advance the State’s economy.
His words: “The Ehingbeti Summit coming up from February 16-18, 2021 is the continuation of the master plan that Lagos has always had since the coming of civilian administration and all of the resolutions of the master plan can be seen around us now”.
Omotoso promised that this year’s summit will be a very good experience because of the calibre of people who will be discussing the future of Lagos State in the next decade. Among the speakers are Mo Ibrahim, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
