Nigeria @ 61: One love , keep us together

By Grace Udoh

No matter how hard we try to dispute this, Nigeria is ours, we own the land. The land that was once flowing with milk and honey but now filled with evil, corruption, greed, selfishness, plague, death, injustice, restiveness, poverty, hardship, suffering, betrayal, manipulations, tears, fear, terror, insecurity, and all we can think of.

In the space of 22 years, I’ve seen everything that proves that Nigeria is struggling, politically, economically, religiously, educationally, etc. Things doesn’t seem like is going to get better anytime soon. Our political leaders have failed, our religious leaders have failed, every sector has. But the question is, are we going to sit back and count out failures and blame this people?? What do we really have to offer?? Asides from criticism??? Yes we have a lot to. Negativity births more negativity. We’ve lost our loved ones(may their souls rest in peace), we’ve all been through terrible shits but God on our side, we will prevail. In your own environment, space, house, community, street you can make Nigeria better. It starts with you and I.

Can we minimize the hatred, the envy, the competition, the anger, and let love lead. The change starts with us. I believe in Nigeria and I know it will get better someday. Indeed we will have a story to tell. Its time we begin to speak positively of our nation, cos since we’ve been speaking negatively it has only gotten worse, let’s try something else, maybe, just maybe it will get better Arise Nigerians, and let’s make our father’s land great. Happy Independence Day to our great country I’m proudly a Nigerian
