LASPARK, ACCESS BANK UNVEIL REHABILITATED ROAD MEDIANS IN LEKKI, VICTORIA ISLAND

In line with the mandate and drive to regenerate and beautify open spaces within the State for a beautiful, green and healthier environment, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has partnered with Access Bank Plc to adopt and beautify Admiralty Way, Lekki and Adeola Odeku Way, Victoria Island road medians through the “Go Green Initiative”.

Speaking at the unveiling of the Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I completed project, the General Manager of LASPARK, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, said the “Go Green Initiative” was borne out of the passion for the environment shown by Access Bank, noting that the bank over the years has been a very good supporter of the State Government.

She disclosed that the project is being carried out by the Corporate Banking Division of the financial institution to enhance the environment by greening and planting trees, acknowledging that the initiative has transformed the Lekki Admilraty Way corridor.

Speaking on the sustainability of the initiative, Popoola revealed that Access Bank has engaged horticulturists approved by LASPARK for continuous maintenance of the road medians.

She encouraged other Corporate Organisations to emulate the Bank’s gesture, reiterating that the mandate of LASPARK is to promote beautification, recreation and leisure across Lagos.

“We have an Adoption Programme which allows individuals, corporate organisations to adopt and beautify open spaces across the State”, she said.

The Head of Corporate Banking Division, Access Bank, Mrs. Iyabo Soji-Okusanya, said the project is being done as a Corporate Social Responsibility function, stressing that going “Green” is important in the heat of the effect of climate change.

She noted that the “Go Green” initiative was conceived out of the desire to demonstrate to everyone the importance of greenery to a sustainable environment, adding that the bank will continue to impact the communities and markets where it operates from.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Kiosque Vegetal and LASPARK’s approved horticulturist, Mrs. Fatima Mohammed, emphasised the importance of greenery to protect the environment, saying its significance cannot be overstated.
