Tinubu tells APC Governors to work with party leadership
Bola Tinubu, president-elect, says whether governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are returned as winners of their election or not, his administration is theirs.
Speaking on Thursday in Abuja after APC governors paid him a visit, Tinubu said they should work with the leadership of the party to produce presiding and principal officers in the national assembly.
The president-elect said all APC members need to work in unison.
“Whether you return or not, this is our government,” Tunde Rahman, media aide to the former governor of Lagos, quoted him as saying.
“We thank God Almighty for our electoral victory. It was tough and turbulent.
“The challenge before us is working in unison with the party leadership and the National Assembly over the election of their principal officers. And I charge you to unite in spirit and faith and work in line with the party.”
Tinubu expressed gratitude to God that he is the first Muslim “minority” from the south-west to be elected president.
“The first Muslim minority from the south-west got the blessing of Allah to be elected president,” he said.
On his part, Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi and chair of the APC governors forum, said the visit was to congratulate Tinubu over the election.
Bagudu said the governors are ready for any task the president-elect would assign to them
