The executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Bassey Eno has dimissed the report that his predecessor, the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Emmanuel Udom is mounting pressure on him since leaving office on May 29
Governor Eno made this public disclosure during the opening ceremony of the Akwa Ibom Dialogue and unveiling of the ARISE Agenda held last week Monday at Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo.
Eno, a former commissioner for Lands in the government of Udom Emmanuel said instead, he has been the one running after his former boss for advice and direction.
“I want to specially welcome again to this event, my political father, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, CON who has come to show us support. A man that since leaving office has never brought any pressure on me for anything. Instead, I am the one running after him to ask for direction, to ask for advice quiet unlike what I hear happen in other state. We thank you sir”, said while recognizing Mr. Emmanuel at the event.
The event was the first time Mr. Emmanuel has attended an event in the state since leaving office two months ago.
He arrived the state via a private jet on the morning of the event and was received at the Victor Attah International Airport by a horde of politicians led by Governor Eno. After attending the event, Mr. Emmanuel wanted leaving the state immediately back to his base but was compelled by the governor to atleast stop by at the Government House before leaving which he grudgingly agreed to.
Many of his former appointees and allies who had hoped he will stay a bit longer in the state in order to afford them opportunity of having private discussions with him, especially on how they would be integrated into the current administration were left disappointed as Udom left the Government House straight to the airport.
Recall that Governor Umo Eno recently re-appointed all cabinet members who served with Mr. Emmanuel till May 29., 2023. The Commissioners, 23 in number alongside a Special Adviser were sworn-in last week Thursday at Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo. Only General Koko Essien (Rtd), Commissioner for Internal Security is a first timer in the exco.
