Army General douses ‘black December’ scare, pleads FG to re-introduce Army Aviation
Maiduguri: Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Olusegun Adeniyi, while dousing ‘black December’ scare, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to re-introduce Army Aviation.
Adeniyi, who said he received instructions from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai to host the press men who came to Maiduguri for a tour, disclosed this at the command’s Headquarters on Monday, while stressing that the complexities of fighting insurgency are surmountable.
He said he was determined to deliver his assignment of ending the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast within the shortest time possible.
“Insurgency is a large scale criminal franchise, Boko Haram is not Islamic,” Adeniyi said while reeling out the activities of Nigerian Army in the North East.
According to Adeniyi, tackling Boko Haram insurgency is now easy after just a few years of studying who they are.
“Let’s give them the right name… Boko Haram insurgents are the once attacking banks, kidnapping for ransom, rustling cows and committing so many crimes in Nigeria.
“We know their tactics and having spent a few years studying them I am determined to crush and kill them were necessary. Very soon they will be forced to opt for negotiations,” Adeniyi said.
Highlighting the way forward, Adeniyi called on the federal government of Nigeria to re-introduce Army Aviation.
“We used to have Army helicopters in those days but there were no issues of serious crimes like insurgency, it is now time to bring combatant helicopters back because of insurgency.
I can boldly say on camera that Army Aviation will end Boko Haram in three months” Adeniyi said.
He further explained the advantages and technicalities of the combatant helicopters to press men.
He further dismissed alleged claim by Boko Haram in video suggesting that December will be full of crisis.
“I want everybody to keep calm, there will be nothing like black December. We will work very hard to ensure a peaceful festive season and for the future; will force them to go for negotiation, or kill and maim them.
“If you go to San you will not see anybody, but we will still catch them through our intelligence,” Adeniyi said.
