Akwa Ibom state govt justifies huge investment in power

The Akwa Ibom government has justified huge financial investments directed at the construction of electricity power sub-stations in the state.
Gov Udom Emmanuel made this statement of justification during the 60th birthday celebration of the senior special assistant on power and managing director, Ibom Power Company, Engr. Meyen Etukudo, which took place in Uyo, Saturday.
Emmanuel posited that the deliberate release of funds to procure state-of-the-art equipment and the attraction of professional personnel in the construction of electricity power substation was to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply to residents and investors in the state by 2021, adding that electricity supply projects would continue to receive top priority in the interest of the state, also that his administration has gone neck-deep in taking up further investments in stable electricity supply no matter the non-visibility of the programme by people, maintaining that the drive would be largely felt on getting every household hooked to stable electricity supply by 2021.
Emmanuel said that the road map to the materialization of the policy of stable electricity supply has commenced by the launch of the scheme by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on a recent state visit, adding that the pursuit of the electricity project has become a major policy agenda in the state. He was delighted in the performance and display of professionalism showed by workers in the electricity sector.
The governor applauded Etukudo for exhibiting dexterity, interest and excellent drive of service in the power sector.
Etukudo appreciated the interest of Emmanuel to attend his birthday celebration in-spite of crowded state schedule, adding that the visit would remain memorable to members of his family, also thanked Emmanuel for giving him opportunity to serve the Akwa Ibom government in the power sector, pledging to continue serving diligently while giving honour to God for successes recorded in the power sector of the state and the country at Large.
