NANS denies supporting a planned protest against EFCC

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has refuted an allegations of backing a proposed demonstration against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Last Wednesday, the anti-graft agency sounded a warning about an unidentified group plotting a protest with the goal of obstructing its activities and operations.

The commission stated that the group has been diligently engaging in social media advocacy and actively enlisting susceptible young Nigerians, particularly students.

Reacting with a statement, Lucky Emonefe, the president of NANS, criticized the group for trying to influence students for their own gain.

The statement said, “We strongly condemn the attempt to use students by these shadowy groups to intimidate the EFCC and distract it from its vital mission of ridding the country of corruption,”

“Nigerian students and NANS stand in full support of the EFCC and its mandate to combat economic and financial crimes.

“We recognise the significant impact of the Commission’s work in restoring Nigeria’s integrity and ensuring a secure future for all citizens.

“We are ready to play our part in supporting the Commission and ensuring that Nigeria’s reputation is restored and preserved on the global stage.”
