The Lagos state police command says four persons have died in a fire outbreak at a lounge and bar on Baale road in the Olodi Apapa area of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesperson in Lagos, said the fire started around 7:45 am on Sunday.

Hundeyin noted that a distress call was made to the Tolu police division after the fire broke out.

He added that the employees, yet to be identified, were burnt beyond recognition in the inferno.

“Based on the report, teams of policemen and firefighters were swiftly mobilised to the scene, and the fire was successfully put out due to the combined efforts of all the teams,” the statement reads.

“The corpses have been evacuated to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Morgue in Yaba for autopsy.

“The cause of the fire and the value of the property destroyed are still being determined, with investigations ongoing.”
