Nine former members of Boko Haram terrorists group has surrendered waepons and other ammunitions The event took place on November 11, 2024 at the Agadez Governorate Court in Niger Republic and was overseen by Brigadier General Ibra Boulama, who welcomed the ex-combatants alongside his team.
The surrendered arsenal included several pieces of heavy weaponry, notably two 12.7mm machine guns, which were handed over as part of a mediation process led by Nigerian national Adoua Mohamed.
The surrender marks the latest in a series of demobilizations facilitated by community leaders and mediators in the region, including representatives from Kawar and Termite.
Earlier in the month, other combatants also laid down their arms, influenced by the advocacy of respected figures such as Elhadj Mahamat EZEMI, a businessman from Dirkou, and Ibrahim Moussa Ekadé, who has led contact and negotiation efforts with armed Toubou groups in Libya.
Local leaders emphasize that the cessation of violence is crucial for advancing socio-economic development across the region, an effort that hinges on continuous, discreet diplomacy and community outreach.
