OJO LG CELEBRATES CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS

 

Ojo Local Government in Lagos State  under the auspices of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department(WAPA) has celebrated and distributed gift items to indigent and residential children in a secured, relaxed and exciting atmosphere in celebration of Christmas.

The children, aged between 3 and 15 years, received branded gift items in addition to special gifts awarded to winners in games and dancing competitions from the Chairperson, wife of the Executive Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Alhaja Abimbola Idowu.

They were also thrilled to other attractions like bouncing castles during the Christmas celebration event organised at the Council secretariat.

The chairperson said the programme was aimed at giving the children within Ojo environs a memorable holiday.

According to her, celebrating with others aside her families in a controlled and secured atmosphere would definitely put smiles on their faces.

“This is one of the present administration’s lofty ideas of spreading love and integrating children into Christmas celebration.

“This administration understands that the holidays are incomplete without children being touched tenderly with love,” she said

Those who were present, which include the chairperson of Iba LCDA, Mrs Folashade Isa and the supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Abiodun Salau described it as an act of kindness, adding that, “the celebration was top-notch.”

While appreciating the kind gesture of the chairperson who organised the programme, elated mother of one the children, Mrs Banjoko Modupe, said her children participated in various programmes of the event for over five hours without any rancour or unfortunate incident and children regardless of their religion were given lovely gifts and souvenirs.

One of the winners of the dancing competition, said the event availed her opportunity to interact freely and closely with those not his acquaintances.

The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corp(LNSC), Ojo branch provided security during the event.
