Court orders Dispatch rider to clean Hospital toilet for one year over using boss’ bike as collateral

A magistrate court in Kubwa, a satellite town in the federal capital territory (FCT), has ordered Alex Williams, a dispatch rider, to clean the Kubwa General Hospital premises for one year.
Nneaka Lesley, the presiding magistrate, also ordered Williams to pay N475,000 as compensation to the complainant, Ezekiel Marthamabis, on or before September 30.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel told the court that Marthamabis reported the matter at the divisional police headquarters, Dawaki, on January 12.
The lawyer said that Marthamabis employed Williams as a rider for business but he absconded with the motorcycle to an unknown destination on December 4.
According to him, the offence contravened the provisions of section 288 of the Penal Code.
Williams pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
“I asked my boss to give me money for the Christmas celebrations but she refused. I used her delivery bike as collateral to get a loan for the Christmas,” he said
