Court grants bail to Man charged for battering wife

Suleiman Maiyegun,the man who beat his wife and posted her bloodied face on Facebook boasting that he was waiting for her police has been granted a N500,000 bail and the case adjourned to June 22, 2020.
The Judge however, directed the suspect to bring a cleric and a relative of his wife to serve as sureties for his bail bond.
The decision followed the docking of the suspect, Maiyegun, before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating his wife and boasting about it on his Facebook page.
Maiyegun pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of assault occasioning harm and offensive publication.
The Prosecutor, SP. Shinaolu Adeoye, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 5, at 12:13p.m, at Maiyegun town, Jakande Estate, Eti-Osa Local Government.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant unlawfully assaulted his wife, the complainant, one Mariam Gabriel, by beating her with his fist on her forehead.
