The Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected hackers, for allegedly hacking into the bank account of one Kolawole Sobande and siphoned the sum of N300, 000.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement that, the suspects were on the 18th of May 2020 arrested by operatives in Ogun upon information received from a P.O.S operator who alerted the police that one of the suspects approached him to transfer the sum of N100,000 from an account to his own (POS operator’s) account while the operator will in return give him cash.
According to DSP Oyeyemi, the POS operator discovered that the identification card the hacker provided was not same as the account owner that money was to be withdrawn from and when asked if he was the owner of the account, he could not give a concrete explanation.
“Because the hacker presented a different ID to the POS operator, it raised suspicion and police was alerted and the hackers were promptly arrested” Oyeyemi said.
The hackers are presently assisting the police in their investigation and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
