Borno Bomb Attacks: Tinubu Vows Terrorists Won’t Go Unpunished After Killing Of 18

In response to the recent bomb attacks in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, President Bola Tinubu has vowed that the perpetrators will face severe consequences.

The attacks claimed 18 lives and left dozens injured.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu described the attacks as “desperate acts of terror” and a clear indication of the mounting pressure on terrorist groups.

Tinubu said the incidents, while tragic, are isolated and will not plunge the nation into an era of fear and bloodshed.

Quoting Ngelale, “The President declares that the purveyors of wanton violence shall have a certain encounter with justice, and that these cowardly attacks are only but an isolated episode as his government will not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.

“The President states that his administration is taking necessary measures to secure citizens, emphasizing that efforts will be redoubled to ensure that those who trouble the nation, dispatching precious lives, and disrupting law and order are completely removed.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Barkindo Saidu, Director-General of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), told journalists that the first explosion occurred at a wedding ceremony, while the second targeted a funeral service.

The casualties included men, women, and children, with 19 seriously injured individuals transported to Maiduguri for medical care.

“The degree of injuries range from abdominal raptures, skull and limb fractures.

“I have also received a report that there is a suspected suicide bomber in Pulka,” Saidu had said.

Pulka is a village not too far from Gwoza town. The coordinated nature of the attacks has raised concerns as they bear similarities to past insurgent activities in parts of the country.
