BUHARI’S VISIT: LAGOS ANNOUNCES EMERGENCY TRAFFIC DIVERSION ON AHMADU BELLO WAY
Ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Lagos today, the Lagos State Government has announced that it will be diverting traffic insome parts of Victoria Island. Traffic will be diverted on Ahmadu Bello Way from Adeola Odeku Intersection inwards Adetokunbo Ademola Roundabout (Eko Hotel) from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Today Thursday, 9th December, 2021.
A release signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said the road will be temporarily unavailable to motorists for the stated period, assuring that alternative routes have been mapped out to ease traffic flow within and around the designated route.
He explained that motorists will be diverted to Adeola Odeku via Akin Adesola, adding that road users will also be diverted to Oyin Jolayemi, Oko-Awo and Sanusi Fafunwa Streets as Akin Adesola connecting Ahmadu Bello Way by IBM will be closed to vehicular movement.
Oladeinde noted that Ozumba Mbadiwe will serve as alternative access for motorists to link their destinations as traffic from the road inbound Adetokunbo Ademola will be diverted to Ajose Adeogun and Sanusi Fafunwa Streets or redirected back to Civic Events Centre axis
The Commissioner reiterated that all feeder roads leading to Ahmadu Bello Way from Adeola Odeku intersection as well as those leading to Eko Hotel from Adetokunbo Ademola Roundabout will be temporarily closed to traffic from early hours of the day.
While assuring motorists that signage will be mounted along the routes to guide movements, Oladeinde affirmed that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), will be available to manage any inconvenience in order to reduce travel time for motorists.
The State Government appealed to the citizenry, especially those who reside and do business along the aforementioned routes to cooperate with officers assigned to manage movement within and around Victoria Island, stressing that the traffic diversion is for a short period.
