The acting Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, Shaka Imalighwe, has revealed that the institution does not have any helicopters available for training.
Mr. Imalighwe revealed this information on Thursday at the inquiry into the sale of the two helicopters in Abuja.
Mr. Imalighwe informed the House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets that he assumed control of the college on an interim basis in January 2024.
He mentioned that despite holding the position of Deputy Rector of the college when the helicopters were sold, he was not involved in the team or committee responsible for facilitating the sales.
Reacting, Rep. Ademorin Kuye, the Chairman of the Committee, expressed concern over the sale of the two helicopters to private individuals, when the college was left with no helicopter for training.

The committee raised concerns about the procedure followed in the sale of the helicopters, as various security agencies such as the Nigerian Air Force, Navy, and Police had shown interest in acquiring them.
Hence, the committee instructed the former and current Minister of Aviation to attend the upcoming investigative hearing.
The Ministry of Works, Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), as well as the previous and current Rectors of the College were also called upon to attend, along with other individuals.
