Sex workers in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital are beginning to lament on the effect of the global pandemic, Coronavirus on their job as customers have ceased patronizing them.
The sex workers who spoke with our correspondent explained that, since the recent banning on high density population by the state government, many of customers have abstained from coming to their rest houses.
According to Judith one of the sex workers at Love Garden, Idi-Ape in Abeokuta, they have drastically reduced their charges from N1000 to N300 due to the low patronage.
She added that, the need to feed themselves and survive in this difficult period became necessary for them as few customers who came to have a drink of beer don’t want to come closer to them.
She stressed that, as part of measures to also prevent contacting the dreaded disease, they have devised a new strategy for their customers to enjoy themselves.
She maintained that, instead of the full naked sex action, customers have been advised to only remove their trousers and use their condom and have also devised another sex technique
Judith who spoke in pidgin language said “my brother no be small thing ooo. Customers don desert us. Nobody want carry the ‘corolla’ disease.
“Unlike before wey I dey get seven to 12 customers in a day, throughout yesterday, I no get anybody and you know say, we must pay for the room wey we dey use everyday. That one no even ‘consign’ me as the agent know how business be for now.
“But you know say we must chop, and nobody dey come woutside again , how we go survive now. How we go chop now. I pray make hunger no kill person for here ooo.
“But I wan beg our customers make dem no fear. Nothing go happen to dem. Even we sef, we know wan die. That is why we don agree to dey use another technique to avoid much body contact and we go give them hand glove . We dey collect any amount now. If you bring N300, we go collect ham, bring N500, we go collect ham, but you know go spend more than 3minutes for N300 be dat.”
