Cultists unleash mayhem in Lagos Community
Members of rival secret cult gangs, Eiye and Aiye Confraternities, on Tuesday night, engaged themselves in a bloody shootout at Owode-Elede near the popular Mile 12 Market in Kosofe area of Lagos State.
The shooting, which witnesses said was still ongoing as at the time of filing this report, had further heightened the tension around Kosofe and its environs.
Suspected secret cult gang members have been in cold war for over two weeks and witnesses said many persons have lost their lives while others sustained different degree of injuries.
A resident of Owode, who refused to identify himself for fear of attack, said he was caught-up in the bloody shootout while on his way home from work on Tuesday night.
He said: “There is heavy crisis at Owode Elede area on Ikorodu road as suspected cultists are at war.
“No vehicular movement to and fro from Ikorodu.
“Traffic particularly to Ikorodu axis grounded and stretching to Ketu, Ojota.
“Urchins also known as Area boys are already gathering in large numbers at Mile 12 area.
“There is palpable fear that they may capitalise on the gridlock caused by the cult war to dispossess people of their belongings.
“I managed to escape from the scene after putting a call to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, and also informed the PRO of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
“I am now running back to pass the night at Ketu with a relation as there is no vehicular movement,” he said
