Customs discovers ‘N91m worth of cannabis’ inside truck carrying sand in Badagry

Operatives of the Seme command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intercepted 3,186 parcels of cannabis sativa hidden inside a truck carrying sand.

The cannabis parcels, which were conveyed in 41 sacks in a tipper which was intercepted along the Seme-Badagry expressway, are said to be worth N91,488,977.

Abdullahi Hussain, customs public relations officer, Seme command, in a statement on Wednesday, said the tipper was intercepted in the early hours of Tuesday, based on credible intelligence reports.

According to NAN, the vehicle was examined, and 41 sacks containing 3,186 parcels of cannabis sativa, “with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N91,488,977”, were discovered.

Abdullahi added that Bello Jibo, controller of Seme customs command, commended the officers for the discovery, and urged them to keep up the good work in the effort to curtail smuggling activities across the country.

He also urged customs operatives to endeavour to collaborate with host communities, just as he encouraged the general public to cooperate with the NCS in carrying out its duty
