FG to reactivate abandoned fishing terminals in Akwa Ibom State

The federal government has pledged to reactivate the abandoned fishing terminal in Akwa Ibom state to boost its drive for non oil revenue.
It stated that over N100b will be targeted in bringing the project to its full capacity which in completion will boost the economy of the nation.
The Senior Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang spoke while assessing facilities of fishing terminals at Akai Ebughu and Ibaka deep seaport in Mbo Local Government Area of the state laat weekend.
While assessing the state of the multipurpose project, Enang disclosed that remedial measures would soon commence to harness business activities for now.
“Part of Our effort is to make sure that the economic potential of Nigeria in the sea and everywhere including agriculture, fishing, port activities and all things that can engage citizens of this country as well as generating revenue for the economy are activated.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-agege, represented by his Special Assistant, Mr Azuka Agbihi, who was part of the delegation, pledged commitment for the actualization of the project.
Also speaking, The Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, represented by his Special Assistant, Mr Femi Bathmus maintained that his office would cooperate with federal government to revitalize the none oil sectors of the economy.
The President of Oro Union, Bishop Etim Atteh commended President Muhamadu Buhari for sending the team to asses the abandoned terminal, appealing to the federal government to ensure an urgent reactivation of the terminal for the betterment of the nation.
