Forrner CAF President , Hayatou dies at 77
Firrmer president of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, and former acting President of FIFA , Issa Hayatou has died.
Hayatou a Cameroonian died on Thursday in Paris after a long illness,
Cameroonian media are reporting that Hayatou had been battling a protracted sickness before his death less than 24 hours to his 78th birthday. His death comes on the eve of his 78th birthday.
Hayatou served as the president of CAF for 29 years from 1988 until 2017.
He was also the acting FIFA president from 2015-2016, following Sepp Blatter’s suspension by the world football governing body.
In 2011, Hayatou was punished by the IOC over his role in an alleged bribery scandal at FIFA.
He was accused of receiving about $20,000 from a sports marketing company, ISL, in 1995.
Hayatou however insisted the money was a gift for his confederation
