In October 2021, Ibom Air ordered 10 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, receiving the first in November 2023. Due to the increasing demand, the airline purchased this A220 from Carlyle Aviation, a renowned aircraft lessor.
The delivery event saw the attendance of Shareholder His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State. Other dignitaries included Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah and Chief Whip Hon. Effiong Etim Johnson. Ibom Air’s Executive team, led by CEO Mfon Udom and COO Mr. George Uriesi, was also present.
This aircraft addition brings Ibom Air’s fleet of A220s to 11, pending the delivery of nine more units. Nigerian banks are increasingly embracing aircraft financing. Fidelity and Union Banks financed this purchase, with Fidelity as the majority partner. Ibom Air appreciates the support from Nigerian financial institutions in its growth.
