It’s a thinking job not bricklaying, says Tinubu on being fit to contest presidency

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he is psychologically fit to contest the presidency in 2023.

Tinubu said this on Friday when he visited the palace of Jimoh Olanipekun, the Ataoja of Osogbo, to inform the latter of his 2023 presidential ambition.

There were concerns expressed on social media platforms over the health status of the former Lagos governor following his recent medical trip to the United Kingdom.

Speaking on the development, Tinubu said becoming president is more about a person’s thinking capacity than physical strength.

“I am not applying for the job of bricklaying or grave digging. I went to school to study accountancy and management,” he said.

“I am applying for a thinking job and I will do it right. The job I want to do is for Nigeria to be greater and to be proud of itself.”

The APC chieftain added that if the people of Osun give him their support, he would not let them down.

“The time is here now; the clock is ticking; the calendar is ticking and this is the time Nigerians need a thorough hope, solid hope for progress, prosperity and growth,” he said.

“We need a lot of jobs for our children, solid education for our children. We need progress for our country and we need someone that can do this.

“I offer myself the opportunity to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I have informed President Buhari that I want to step into his shoes. I told him I want to serve my country to the best of my knowledge.

“I need your endorsement and your prayers. We believe in one Nigeria, irrespective of our tribe. We must see ourselves as one entity that will bring progress to Nigeria, and this is my promise.”

In his remarks, the Ataoja of Osogbo said Tinubu has the capacity to be the president, and prayed that God would grant his heart’s desires
