Killers of Kaka the footballer will not go unpunished : Ogun state Governor

Governor Dapo Abiodun on Sunday February 23,2020 as assured that the killer of Remo Stars Football Club player, Kazeem Tiamiyu, popularly called Kaka, would not go unpunished.
Abiodun urged residents of Ogun State to remain calm and not resort to unlawful acts in respect of the death of Kaka and similar other incidents in the state, saying a full investigation would be launched into the reported shootings and killing by security agents.
The Governor in a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, described the killing of the soccer star as unfortunate and urged the players, management and supporters of Remo Stars Football Club to remain calm.
He expressed shock at the details of the tragic incident, assuring that a proper, transparent and independent investigation would be launched immediately into the two incidents in order to know what transpired with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The Governor eulogised the late player as a young man with great potentials for the development of the State and the nation in general.
He said that his Government would never take with levity, the lives and property of the good people of Ogun State, admitting that the first business of Government was security and welfare of the citizens of State, adding that the case of Kaka would not be an exception.
“Kaka’s unfortunate case will not be swept under the carpet” he assured.
He also sympathised with the two persons hospitalised as a result of the Thursday February 20,2020 shooting at Olomoore market Abeokuta by men of the anti-cultism team of Ogun State police command.
While expressing disappointment at the handling of the matter, Gov Abiodun said the two victims are said to be alive and responding to treatment at the state general hospital, Ijaiye Abeokuta.
He assured the people that justice would be sought for victims in respect of the two incidents and sanctions would be appropriately met out to those found culpable to serve as a deterrence to trigger – happy security personnel.
