Kogi Jailbreak: Three Prisoners Captured, Prison Officer Killed—NCS Boss

Three out of the twelve inmates who escaped from the Koton Karfe Correctional Centre in Kogi State have been rearrested, the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) has confirmed.
Speaking at the facility on Monday, Acting Controller General of the NCS, Sly Nwakuche, described the jailbreak as tragic, revealing that one of the correctional officers was killed during the escape.
“As of this moment, five of the fleeing inmates have been recaptured, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining inmates and bring them to justice,” the statement reads.
“Citizens are also encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.”
Umar assured Nigerians that custodial centres are secured, adding that measures are being reinforced to strengthen security across all facilities.
He said the service is committed to ensuring all correctional facilities fulfill its mandate of safe custody, rehabilitation, and reintegration of inmates
He assured the public that no effort would be spared in apprehending the remaining fugitives, vowing that justice would be served.
