LAGOS CP INSPECTS OGUDU CELL FACILITY, PROMISES IMMEDIATE CONSTRUCTION OF MODEL CELL
…promise to assist NEMA, INEC on flood control and electoral processes

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, yesterday ,Friday September 18th 2020 inspected and assessed the deplorable condition of the cell at Ogudu Police State which is not palatable for inmates and ordered the immediate construction of the cell facility to a model cell that befits the present modern policing ideologies of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Muhammed Abubakar Adamu.
According to the state public relations officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, CP Odumosu who was on a routine check of police deployments and formations across the command, noticed the condition of the cell and ordered the Officer in charge of the works department (DLS) to commence immediate construction and reinforcement of the cell; and to fix all necessary gadgets to make it a standard model cell.
The police chief also seized the opportunity to charge the officers and men of the command, particularly those attached to Area H, Ogudu, on proactiveness, commitment and patriotism to national service and general security of Lagos State , and Nigeria at large.
In a related development, CP Hakeem Odumosu also met with the State Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) Mr Ibrahim Farinloye and the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Mr Sam Olumekun, in his Ikeja office on thursday, at different occasions.
The meetings, which were propelled by the yearnings and aspirations of the Commissioner of Police to be proactive and brainstorm with the leaders of the two vital Federal Government agencies on protection of lives and property and having smooth electoral processes, respectively, in the state.
The police boss, who seized the opportunity of their visits to him in his office, expressed his concern on various forecasts on flooding in Lagos State and plans to prevent such looming disasters. He however assured the NEMA boss in Lagos State that the Command will do the needful to support the agency whenever the needs arise, especially, while on rescue operations and/or disaster management within the state.
In his response, the NEMA boss hinted the Commissioner of Police of the agency’s plans to forestall unwarranted disasters in the state as the Federal House of Representatives has made frantic efforts in passing a bill that will manage and regulate the opening of dams during the raining season, which will curb perennial flooding in the affected areas.
On hus part, the INEC boss in Lagos State, Mr Sam Olumekun, discussed rigorously with the Commissioner of Police on their plans to embark on certain electoral processes in Lagos State, as a measure to plan ahead of the forthcoming bye elections and other general elections in the state.
As a proactive and seasoned officer in electoral duties, CP Hakeem Odumosu, highlighted security plans and checks being put in place by the Police in line with the provisions of relevant laws of the land, to midwive elections in the state, particularly, the bye elections at the corner.
The Police chief also assured all Lagosians of police commitment to having free, fair, credible and acceptable elections in Lagos State.
