Manchester City star Kyle Walker has rued Southampton’s defensive setup following his side’s dramatic comeback in the Premier League, Saturday.
The England defender netted the winner in the clash on Saturday as Pep Guardiola’s men claimed a come-from-behind 2-1 win.
Speaking after the tie, Walker said he was not happy with how the Saints played defensively all through the game with their players always behind the ball.
“We have to stick to our game plan, stayed patient and it worked as we came away with the three points,” the England star said.
“It’s tough when teams put 11 players behind the ball. We have players who can spin a game on its head and we did that today.
“Every three points is vital. We have the quality – it is about the mental state of the players. We have to keep positive.”
According to him, “It’s a great feeling that I can contribute but more importantly it was about the three points.
Anyone could have scored, I didn’t care who it was. It was just a case of hit it and hopefully get the ball in the back of the net. I don’t score many.”
City are still behind Liverpool with six points despite the victory over Southampton. Both teams will take on each other next weekend.
