Six Nigerian nationals, comprising one male and five females, have been arrested by the Libya Stability Support Agency’s Department of Investigation for their alleged involvement in cocaine trafficking.
The suspects were found in possession of substantial quantities of cocaine, which were ready for distribution.
The arrests were made in a coordinated operation in Tripoli, the Libyan capital. The seized drugs were handed over to authorities for further investigation.
According to the Migrant Rescue Watch, the suspects have been referred to the public prosecution for legal action.
The Libya Stability Support Agency’s Department of Investigation confirmed the arrests in a statement, saying that the suspects were part of a drug trafficking gang that was dismantled in Tripoli.
The statement read, “The accused were found in possession of large quantities of cocaine ready for distribution”
This development comes as Libyan authorities continue to crack down on drug trafficking and other illicit activities in the country.
The arrests are a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime in Libya.
