Mbappe tests positive for COVID-19
Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain striker, has tested positive for COVID-19.
The World Cup winner will miss France’s UEFA Nations League game against Croatia and PSG’s season opener following his COVID-19 status.
Mbappe started for the Les Blues against Sweden on Saturday night wherein he scored the only goal in the 1-0 win.
Sky Sports reports that the France Football Federation confirmed his status in a statement on Monday.
The 21-year-old striker was tested ahead of France’s game against Croatia on Tuesday.
“Kylian Mbappé will not participate in France-Croatia, Tuesday evening at 8:45 p.m. at the Stade de France,” the statement read.
“The result of his Covid-19 test, carried out by UEFA on Monday morning, was found to be positive, he was placed away from the group after receiving the results, at the end of training, before regaining his home in the evening.

“Like the entire delegation, Kylian Mbappé had undergone a test prior to meeting. The result was negative, like the one last Wednesday, at the request of UEFA.”
Mbappe is the 7th player from PSG to have contracted the novel coronavirus.
Neymar, Marquinhos, Mauro Icardi, Keylor Navas, Angel di Maria, and Leandro Paredes have also tested positive for the virus.
