MIDOil set to construct a 100,000 bpd modular refinery in Lagos

MIDOil Refining and Petrochemicals Company Limited is set to begin building a modular refinery with a capacity of 100,000 barrels per day in Sekungba/Ejinrin, located in the Ikosi/Ejinrin Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

Mrs. Elizabeth-Omolara Akintonde, the Executive Chairman of MIDOil, shared the news about a new investment opportunity during an event.

Akintonde revealed that the idea of setting up a refinery was first discussed more than ten years ago with an official from the former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi.

“As a marketer of refined petroleum products since 1984, I saw the need to contribute to the growth of our dear country, Nigeria, and Hajiya Amina Abdullahi agreed. This gave birth to the present move to establish a modular refinery in Lagos State,” she said.

Akintonde mentioned that the refining company became officially registered on April 12, 2012. The chairman of MIDOil Refining and Petrochemicals Company described how they obtained a significant piece of land from the previous administration under Governor Babatunde Fashola. He stated that the official letter allocating the land was received from the Lagos State Government on April 24, 2014.

“Subsequently, on January 24, 2017, we have approved the licenses to establish by the then Department of Petroleum Resources,”
