Mutiple Truck Accident claims one life , three injures in Lagos
A tragic accident on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos State on Tuesday claimed the life of an unidentified man and left three others injured.
The incident involved four articulated trucks carrying containers. It was gathered that the deceased was trapped and extricated from beneath one of the trucks.
Two of the injured victims were transported to the Accident and Emergency Centre for medical treatment.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident and attributed the crash to reckless driving. According to him, the impact of the collision caused the trucks to become entangled.
“In an overnight operation, while the safe recovery of a fallen 40-foot container for onward transmission to LASTMA office in Oshodi was yet on-going with the deployment of heavy-duty equipment (Crane), a multiple accident occurred along the same axis on Otedola Bridge,” Oke-Osanyintolu explained.
“Investigations conducted by the Agency’s Response Team revealed that the incident occurred due to reckless driving, which resulted in the accident trucks getting stuck to each other due to the force of impact on collision,” he added.
He further stated that the recovered body was bagged and handed over to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for further action, while the injured victims received immediate medical attention before being transported to the hospital using ambulances
