Nigeria’s World Cup Hopes In Danger After Another Pay Row Hits Super Eagles
Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Qatar is hanging on the balance after another major pay row hit the Super Eagles camp in Lagos.
The Super Eagles have turned down a Million Naira win-bonus for the home game against Liberia on Friday, which they won 2-0.
The players are demanding for far more.
And this logjam has come about after a much-advertised meeting with top NFF officials and “senior” players Thursday did not take place.
The meeting was supposed to agree what the team will earn as match bonus for the World Cup qualifiers and also for the players to know when a backlog of unpaid bonuses will be cleared.
Last month, Rangers defender Leon Balogun opened up on the money problems that have hit the country’s biggest football brand.
