PDP REJECTS EDO GOVERNORSHIP TRIBUNAL RULING

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the ruling of the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, describing it as a miscarriage of justice.

The party expresses concerns over the tribunal’s decision to dismiss its petition despite what it described as overwhelming evidence of electoral malpractice in the 21 September 2024 governorship election.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP insists that its candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo, won the election with the highest number of valid votes but was denied victory through manipulations.

The tribunal on 2 April 2025, dismissed Ighodalo’s petition seeking to nullify the 21 September 2024 governorship election over alleged irregularities.

The PDP Re-affirms its confidence in the judiciary, announcing that it will challenge the tribunal’s decision at the Court of Appeal, where it expects a more conscientious judicial review of the matter.

It further Urges its supporters in Edo State to remain resolute and not lose faith in the judiciary and democracy.
