RRS Commences 24-Hour Bike Patrol On Third Mainland Bridge
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a unit of the Lagos State Police Command, have commenced a 24-hour bike patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The Commander of RRS, Olayinka Egbeyemi, who gave the directive said it was a measure to protect the newly renovated bridge and prevent incidence of harassment of road users by miscreants.
Egbeyemi appealed to motorists as well as road users to cooperate with the patrolling officers.
“The Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has directed the squad’s Bike Riders to commence a 24 hour patrol of the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos as a way of protecting the infrastructure on the bridge as well as prevent incidence of harassment of road users by miscreants.
“This is in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade to the squad for protection of lives, property and public infrastructure on the newly renovated bridge.
“CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi appealed to motorists and road users to co-operate with the riders so that they can serve them better,” RRS said in a statement on Monday.
The commencement of bike patrol on the bridge comes less than two weeks after the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) apprehended one Friday Nwafor for vandalizing the bridge road light indicators.
Recall that the bridge, which was shut in January for extensive repairs, was reopened early April to traffic
