SANWO-OLU PRESENTS Y2021 BUDGET

..as Lagos ordersremoval of illegal structures

Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will present the Y2021 budget estimates to the Lagos State House of Assembly today Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 10am.

In a statement released and signed by
Gbenga Omotoso ,Commissioner for Information and Strategy ,the budget session is expected to focus on advancing the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the State Government.

Members of the public are encouraged to watch the presentation, which will be aired live on Lagos State Television and Radio Lagos/Eko FM.

In another development, the Lagos States Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, over the weekend, issued a seven-day ‘Removal Order’ to owners and occupiers of all illegal structures and shanties, including containerised shops, around Fagba and new Oko-Oba axis to remove them immediately.

The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, gave the order during a monitoring and enforcement exercise, disclosing that over 2500 illegal structures and shanties were served ‘Removal Order’ in the area.

CSP Egbeyemi stated further that the illegal shanties were occupied by miscreants and hoodlums, who burnt and destroyed both public and private property along the axis, during the recent #EndSARS protests.

“You will recall that as part of on the spot assessment of the destruction of both public and private property by miscreants and hoodlums during the #EndSARS protests, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu visited Fagba and Abbatior at new Oko-Oba area”, Egbeyemi said.

He stated that residents around the area were having sleepless nights due to the criminal activities being perpetrated by the hoodlums, stressing the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu has directed that on the expiration of the seven-day ‘Removal Order” any miscreants arrested should be charged to court for prosecution.

The Chairman reiterated, however, that the Agency would not relent in its efforts to provide a safe, secure and livable environment for all residents of the State at all times.
