Terrorists Surrender in Borno After Devastating Airstrikes in Niger Republic

Several fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have surrendered to security forces in Borno State following devastating airstrikes by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in coordination with Nigerien forces.
Intelligence sources revealed on Wednesday that the strikes were conducted on March 17 in Chettimari, a border town in Niger Republic, near Damasak in Borno State.
The precision airstrikes, which targeted ISWAP fighters after they attacked Niger troops, killed At least four soldiers and injured seven others.
But in a swift intervention, in response to a distress call from the neighboring country, the Nigerian Airforce deployed two Super Tucano, supported by intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets from Niger Republic, inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists and disrupted their operations.
“As a result of the airstrikes, several ISWAP fighters surrendered in Borno State with their weapons and horses,” the source said.
The terrorists were identified as part of a group responsible for multiple attacks on communities in Damasak, Geidam, Mallam Fatori, and Diffa in Niger Republic.
