Nigeria’s leading retail bank , Access Bank has once again reiterated its commitment in ensuring that the welfare of its staffs is a major priority by paying its over 30,000 employees including outsourced staffs their full salaries and allowances during the lockdown.
In a telephone chat with cvnewsng.com ,the bank head media relations Abdul Imoyo said contrary to reports that the bank will sack 75 percent of its work force and slash salaries ,Access Bank during the lockdown period especially in the months of April and May paid its entire workforce their full salaries and allowances.
According to Imoyo ” contrary to the hues and cries trending on social media that we are sacking our workers are not true after all, or how does a sacked worker get paid at the end of the month?. As a matter of fact our staffs had already taken their full salaries in this month of May that is yet to end . The management made it clear at the commencement of COVID 19 pandemic lockdown that they are going to suspend operations in some branches in different locations across Nigeria.
Following the directive from the Federal government, we resumed operations immediately in all the affected branches in a manner that ensures the safety and health of our staffs and customers are guaranteed. This is very important to guard against any emergency or incident that may come up as a result of the pandemic” .
He further said the management will not derail from its earlier position that it will comtinue to assure its esteemed stakeholders that its actions and decisions will be guided by fairness, justice, equity and good conscience
